Surgeons are still using the basic instrument since the days they were barbers – the crude blade. The scalpel cuts well but the problem is the tissue will bleed. There’s electrocautery which can take care of the bleeding but this burns the flesh and there’s the smoke too (yecch).
Enter the blade of the future: the Peak Plasmablade. This device which uses proprietary pulsed plasma technology “offers the exacting control of a scalpel and the bleeding control of traditional electrosurgery without the extensive collateral damage” .
